Is the era of 80s-90s female rappers like Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Salt N Pepa, Foxy Brown and Lil Kim better than the female rappers today like Megan Thee Stallion, Glorilla, Sexyy Redd, Cardi B, and Ice Spice?
The reason I brought up that comparison is that I've been noticing how the newer generation of female rappers, like Megan Thee Stallion, GloRilla, Sexyy Redd, Cardi B, and Ice Spice, are really making waves and representing the current state of female hip-hop.
At the same time, the 80s and 90s female rappers like Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Salt-N-Pepa, Foxy Brown, and Lil' Kim will always be icons and legends in the game. They paved the way and established a strong female presence in a male-dominated field. Their music had such an important social and political consciousness that was really impactful.
I'm really curious to hear your take on the biggest differences and similarities between these two generations. Where do you see the most compelling contrasts? And who do you think is really dominating the game overall?

For those of you who followed and rocked with the queens of the old school era, how do you feel about the new school female rappers? Do you think the new school truly surpassing the old school in terms of impact and influence? Or is there still something special and unmatched about the 80s/90s pioneers?
