Is the 944 a good first project car?

I am currently in college saving for a first car. I have done some pretty basic vehicle maintenance on other cars in the past but I am really hoping to learn more about cars and mechanical work. I have been looking around online for something relatively cheap and sporty (mostly facebook marketplace) and have absolutely fallen in love with the idea of owning and working on a 944.

I've done some research about the 944 and its costs, specs, etc. but I figured I should just ask actual 944 owners. So I'm wondering,is it a good first project car? How much might maintenance run me? Any problems I should keep an eye out for? Tell me everything.
