ACL tore, feeling desperate because of people
Hello,
I (25F) tore my ACL after a bad fall while skiing (I was a beginner).
Psychologically, it’s very difficult not to be able to ski for the rest of the season. I discovered that I loved it, and my injury frustrates me (but I’m managing it).
But the hardest thing to deal with is the comments from people passing by: “Oh, good luck, I don’t ski anymore now.” “Oh dear, I’m very careful now, it’s going to be tough for you.”
I’ve already decided to undergo surgery, and this injury has also made me reflect on my lifestyle. I haven’t been exercising enough since I started working, and I have about 5 kilos to lose. People’s comments discourage me because I’m precisely trying to see this as a blessing in disguise—I’ll be lighter and stronger next season.
Am I being naive? Will my knee really never fully recover?
