Are acne scars preventable?

Do you think acne scars are preventable and it’s your own fault that you have scars? As if you (or your parents) didn’t pay much attention to acne when it first appeared and by the time you had it treated the damage was already done.

When I finally decided to treat my acne it disappeared within a few months but by that time the scars were already there. I think if I had acted earlier I could’ve avoided most of the scars I’m now stuck with.
