Carb intake experiments for training runs 1.5-3 hours
In the past i rarely took in carbs for training efforts up to 2 hours (i.e. last year I was regularly running 2 hr / 30k runs, most times only drank about 500ml water…not recommended).
During races (up to 50 mile) I’d shoot for 60g/hr but usually fell short.
With race season approaching and a 100k on the horizon, I’ve decided to experiment with seeing how many carbs I can handle.
I’ve read some literature showing that 100-120g/hr intake can have benefits.
Today I went out and consumed 80g/hr, and I had no issues. I’m going to keep trying to push it to 100+ and see how it feels.
Interested in hearing people’s experiences with higher doses of carbs in training and racing.
