Advice on College and how I should proceed with this (Freshman @ top Specialized HS in NYC)

On paper I've had a horrible freshman year (GPA 84.03/100).

I took Spanish I, Pre-AP World History, Regular Freshman English, An engineering design class, Geometry (Regents), and Physics (Regents). Regents is an NYC only thing, I think, it's just a class you have to take a test for at the end of the year.

If it helps, some of the classes are honors so that might bump it up to an 85 or 86.

The competition at my school is pretty hard and most of my teachers this year were notorious for super harsh grading.

Joined a club or two maybe? But they were just basic stuff like key club.

Did Track & Field and Soccer, but not planning on sticking to soccer, and doing Tennis for Fall of Sophomore Year.

Here are my classes for Sophomore Year:

  • Spanish II
  • AP European History
  • AP Computer Science Principles
  • Global History Regents (not a class, just need to take a test on it for credits)
  • Chemistry
  • English 10
  • Chemistry Lab

Also planning on joining a Research Scholar Team in my school, Math team, and some other clubs.

My MAIN question is this:

Will I still have a chance at the top 10 schools like Yale, Harvard, Princeton, etc..??

AND Do colleges REALLY look at your freshman year?

I'm planning on locking in Sophomore Year and really focusing and showing an upward trend in my GPA.

Please let me know, any advice will help! :)
