Wilrijk December 2024 Warning

Warning: Suspicious Black Van in Wilrijk Targeting Young Girls

I want to share a deeply concerning incident that happened to my daughter recently in Wilrijk, and I hope this serves as a warning to others, especially young girls who walk alone.

Around 6 PM, while it was already dark, my daughter noticed a black van with tinted windows following her. At first, she thought it might be a coincidence, but the driver clearly had bad intentions. He followed her persistently, even as she changed her route.

Despite her growing fear, the van didn’t leave and took its time trailing her. Eventually, my daughter had to run to a neighbor's house for safety. Thankfully, the neighbor was home and helped her call the police.

We managed to take down the license plate number of the van, and the authorities are now involved. However, the fact that this person was so brazen and deliberate is deeply disturbing.

I need information—if you’ve seen this van, know anything about similar incidents, or have any tips, please report it to the police and share it with me.

This is also a wake-up call for the entire community. Please spread the word to warn others and prevent this from happening again.

To all young girls: walk with your head held high and stay aware of your surroundings. Avoid having earphones in or being distracted by your phone, and keep your hands free (not in your pockets) to show confidence and strength. Predators often look for easy targets, so projecting confidence can be a strong deterrent.

Wilrijk is a community, and we need to look out for each other. Let’s work together to stay safe and stop incidents like this from happening.
