I f*cked my tank :(

Hi all, I’m very embarrassed and sad about this as I love my fish dearly. Me and my partner are young have lived alone for about 5 years now and I’ve grown very attached to them in a short amount of time and want to do anything to keep them happy and safe so please no judgement.

I’ve set up a tank not too long ago maybe a month now and I have 5 neon tetras, two upside down catfish and one bristlenose catfish in a 65 litre tank.

I work at a pet shop in Australia and have gotten all my information from them but have gotten conflicting information from multiple people and I would just like to be told what to do straight.

My p.h and nitrite were okay, my and ammonia were at 5ppm and 0.5ppm. I went camping for three days doing a 25% water change the night before and vacuuming my sand. I came back and tested my parameters at my job and my nitrite and ammonia were at 5.0ppm and 160ppm. I started crying. I got my partner to do a 50% water change immediately and used prime (have been the whole time) and I am home now and my fish seem fine but I’m scared and sad and feel like I’ve done something wrong and don’t know how to fix it. This group has been very helpful so far as any help will be appreciated. Pic for proof. I promise they are all still alive.
