We found medical 3% hydrogen peroxide that expired in 1989. Is that an actual expiry date that matters?

[I wasn’t taught chemistry past 10th grade.]

My mom passed away last year and while cleaning her hoarder house, my sister found old bottles of 3% hydrogen peroxide that expired in 1989.

Is that just a legally mandated expiration date or did anything actually change in the composition over time. Not that I‘d know what to use it for anyway.

It was probably stored cool and away from sunlight.
