I don't know what's going on with my throat. strep? mono? something else? all I know is that im scared.

a few days ago, my throat started hurting. I didn't have a fever or any signs of it, so I thought nothing of it, so I decided to not do much for it, except for like weak pain relievers. it started hurting more too. when I swallow, it hurt. I wasn't all that concerned even then, until I noticed my throat. it had white patches on it. I quickly told my mom, and she was like oh okay,, let's just go to urgent care tomorrow.

so the next day, we went. when the nurse came, she did just usual tests, weight, height, how I'm doing, period stuff, etc. then I explain my throat situation and she was just like ohh okay. let me just test you for covid and strep! so I was like okay and she like did the test and just left after. then the doctor came. she greeted me and touched like the sides of my throat (which are still swollen at the moment as I type this), and looked inside to check out my white patches. then she told me I have strep throat. she was like yeah the test results aren't out yet but I can tell its strep by the symptoms, so she prescribed me ibuprofen and amoxicillin, I think that's what its called..

so I then start taking it. today is day four of me taking amoxicillin. but I feel like it hasn't changed. I mean, it has, but its like went from bad, better, to bad again. there were patches on both sides of my tonsils and soft palate (idk if that's what its called I haven't learned properly and its just based off a 5 second google search.. basically just the sides of my throat) at first, but currently, my left side has disappeared almost completely, with some just near the back. but my right side has increased. there were more patches than before. so its like it got better for a bit and got worse again?? or its just the ibuprofen working well and was making me think I got better..? still unsure -- but like I dunno the pain decreased slightly but like every time I lift my mouth..? like in a chewing motion, it gives me like a slight pain, and after repeating that for like a couple times, it becomes like a really sharp pain, but its only once. and that keeps happening.

I still thought it was strep, but my mom started saying how it should've healed by now since it's day four of me taking the antibiotic. how people usually heal after like three days. so im going to the doctor tomorrow.. so I don't know why im really writing this. im just scared.

anyways, after that, I was concerned for myself. I looked up strep throat on google, and found pictures of it. my throat looked like that when I first found the white patches so I just believed it was strep. but I scrolled, and came across mononucleosis. it was this image, like mono vs strep, so I got curious and searched mono up. and you know how when you search strep, its more like white lines that looks like veins on your throat? and how mono looks like just chunks of white patches on your throat? well currently my throat looked more like the one the mono images provided. so I was just there like.. do have strep.. or do I have mono..?

and I just read another post about like this girl having mono but got prescribed amoxicillin because the doctors thought it was strep. and im just there like.. is that what's happening to me?? but like obviously I can't confirm that.

I don't want worse things to happen to me. im not at my best right now, and it's not any better with my hurting throat. it hurts a lot. I haven't eaten because when I swallow, its like the food turns into razor blades and just cuts my throat. anyways, but my mom told me something too, that when I was like younger, 5, or 6, I had like problems with coughing and stuff. and she told me one of the medicines that was prescribed to me doesn't work on me, no matter what. she doesn't remember the name of the antibiotic. but im just wondering, is it amoxicillin? I dunno. I don't know. and it's frustrating.

and like I don't know if its relevant, but im adding it. before my throat hurt, my left ear hurt a lot for about three days. I believe that was because of my over excessive AirPod wearing time, but yeah. and my throats been hurting for so long. a week now? four days of being on antibiotics, but. im so concerned and scared. what if it never heals? it probably will but it doesn't feel like it'll heal. its affecting my life so much.

I don't really care if it's strep, mono, oral thrush, tonsillitis. or something else. I only know those four. But I hate how I can't tell the difference.

I just want it gone. I think this is the worst sickness/illness ive been through, or at least that I can remember.
