How urgently do I need to see a dermatologist?

50F, 5’1”, 160lbs. Live in the U.S. Non-smoker, social drinker. Current meds are Allegra-D and multi-vitamin.

I saw my primary care doc last week and he noticed a mole on my lower back. He told me that I needed to get it checked out because it has an irregular border. Image Here At it’s widest point, it’s about 8mm.

I called several dermatologists and the first new patient appointment I can get is in July. However, I can see a nurse practitioner in the end of January. My question is should I wait until July or see the nurse practitioner in a few weeks? How urgent should I treat this? Thanks all!

UPDATE: I saw the nurse practitioner and she did a biopsy. It’s melanoma but it was caught early. I just need to have it removed at the end the month and I’m all good. Thanks everyone for their comments!
