EU Citizen, work at Lidl, Immigration
Hey all, No disrespect to Ireland and Irish people, All friendly banter! So straight to the point
I am a EU Citizen with High School diploma and unfinished Bachelors degree. (3rd year drop out). 8 Years of experience in specialized construction work that does not exist in Ireland. What I am trying to say is I'm unskilled but with work experience in hard work! I have English under my sleeve but it aint fancy. I stumble sometimes with it and its definitely not fluent but im confident in it.
Now when I come to Ireland my only prospects would be minimal wage jobs. And for some reason I stumbled upon Lidl ads where they state that your pay will raise after years of experience. Only one that has mentioned it.
Now I have done some research and Ireland is basically a not so good place to go to. (But you have to keep in mind rest of the world isnt a good place to be at either) You have very high minimum salary, GDP is useless cause of tax, crisis at housing market, hard to find accommodation, rent is high, problems with basic public health insurance, car insurance is crazy high and you drive on the "wrong" side. However location is Northern Ireland (Cavan, Monaghan, Castleblayney areas) so rent is cheaper. I basically have a place planned.
Now the Lidl. Reviews show its mentally challenging place to work and prefers foreigners cause they can abuse them more. Sounds wonderful. People state that pay is good in comparison with other places but you got to work hard and endure the abuse. No work/life balance And most importantly you can get 60 to 70 hours per week. Awesome stuff. What I cant understand is - If people are getting paid for those extra hours? Cause I'm getting an impression from these "review" people that they are getting screwed over once the payday comes.... They work 80 hours and get paid for 47.5 hours. Now that would not sit well with me. Im a type of guy that can run jump duck whenever you say and however you say it but I'm getting paid for it. As soon as im not - we have a problem. I dont care about other people power fantasies and all that shit.... they want a slave to scream at I am all for it. Just need to get the job done fast without errors and get paid for it. Obviously I understand I will fuck up first 3 months and get screamed at even more or get some deduction from pay cause of errors. But once I am in my element and know the job like my pocket I should be good?
Now if my Math maths right I could go first year 12.70 Euros x 240 hours per month = 3048 Euros a month for 240 worked hours. Before Tax
Next year once I have proved myself and am effective I could get a pay raise to 14.50 Euros (or Something) x 240 = 3480 Euros per month.... Sounds wonderful. Right up my alley. Before Tax
And after 1 year I get the benefits of company pension, health insurance discounts, maybe 20 paid vacation days.
Now the question is. Is this all bullshit? And how possible would it be for me to get an entry level job in Lidl as a foreigner, no disabilities, no strange deformation in my face or anything, without retail experience but with the PPS number, Ireland bank account, no sponsorship needed and reliable means of getting to the work place.
And is it possible to work your way up to those 16.5 Euros per Hour After three years with consistent work?
Yes I have mental problems and I am a workaholic no I don't want to go to school and educate myself. I just need to work in a stable place where hard, fast work gets you increases in salary every year and you can reliably reach the ceiling in 4 years. That is all I am aiming at. But it sounds too good to be true.
If you have any other workplaces that might be a better fit for me (considering all the information I have provided about myself) I AM ALL EARS. What I need however is a stable work place that wont disappear after 2 years and I can grind my way to something, while still starting from the bottom.
