How much do you pay for a ‘premium’ gym?

I’ve been a David Lloyd member for 18 years.

I’m aware that gyms regularly increase their prices but I’m wondering what’s a normal increase. Mine have just put mine up this month from £165 to £179 per month. I remember when I used to pay £60! It seems they are increasing every year. Is this usual?

Curious to know if there are any other DL members here and what you pay. I live in London so I know it’s considerably more expensive here.

When I questioned my club how much it would cost if I were to cancel and rejoin, they said it would be upwards of £250 per month because I’m currently on the older membership (due to being there for so many years) and now they’ve transitioned into a ‘super club’ and it seems their prices are abysmally high for a very standard gym with sub par cleanliness and crap customer service..

I feel a bit stuck with them because they’re the best gym in my area and have decent classes but I feel like the increases are getting too much

Edit: forgot to mention that I pay this much and I’m not able to even get free towels. Have to pay £2 if I want a towel. And I can’t use the tennis courts on my membership as it costs extra. Is that ridiculous?!
