Are there any roads near you with a different speed limit on each side of the road?

When I was having driving lessons many years ago, when travelling on a short, mildly hilly stretch of road not too far from my house, my driving instructor would always remark “Now remember, this road is 30 going up and 20 going down”.

I recently moved home after living in London for some years and drove on that very same road, which took me right back to those heady days. There is no longer a posted speed limit on either carriageway - but there are lampposts at regular intervals on this residential street and I assume it’s 30 in both directions.

I never questioned it at 18 - but now over a decade later it made me realise I’ve never, ever known that to be the case anywhere else, either.

Was my driving instructor chatting bollocks, or is this a thing?!
