Can dogs recover from diabetes?

Our dog 9f was recently moved from 5.5mml to 4mml of insulin after a vet monitored glucose curve. Is there a chance that she will not need insulin if we keep doing the same routine we have been?

Routine: Morning: half of cup of homemade food containing either boiled chicken or beef, brown rice, barley and split pea, frozen veggies (carrots, peas, corn and green beans) we blend and mash everything together into a pate. She get her caininsulin via injection, then a spoonful of 1% cottage cheese as a reward

No snacks or treats in-between, just water
