Possibly have asthma at 28 years old F, how long will this cough last ?!

I had been sick on and off since October 24 until December 24. Things got really bad suddenly and I had a cough for 3 weeks which I went to urgent care for and they prescribed me an albuterol inhaler, prednisone and a z pack all which I used as directed. Things got better for a week and then all back down hill and really bad a week later where I ended up in the hospital with a tight chest unable to breathe, had to be admitted and after several, talking 9 or more, breathing treatments and was finally able to go home. Well they think I have asthma and prescribed me Symbicort for 30 days or until pulmonologist visit and prednisone which I finished, it’s been a week since I left the hospital and while the cough is mostly gone I still cough if I laugh or talk too much or sometimes take a deep breath. I saw my doctor and I’m waiting for a referral to a pulmonologist for a real diagnosis. Oh and I have a pneumothorax which they think I got from coughing, small enough not to need intervention. I want to know how long a cough last after exacerbation ?! Is this my life now lol I have not needed any albuterol since leaving the hospital as far as I’m concerned. Only mild coughing but I’m still very tired and trying not to exert myself as to rest as much as possibly since I’m off work until after new years.
