Salary and mortgage both paid monthly with offset account, should I change the timing?

My salary is paid monthly, let's say on the 10th of each month, directly into my mortgage offset account. I have also set up my monthly mortgage payments to come out of the offset, say two days later on the 12th.

It seems like it would be beneficial to shift the payment date of my mortgage to just before I get paid each month, so that my pay can sit in the offset reducing interest payable for the longest time possible.

Does this make sense and if so is this a common strategy? Cheers
