Rental car scarcity?

My car was stolen over the weekend and the insurance will pay for a rental until my car is found or declared totalled after 30 days. The issue is every rental car company from Kyle to Georgetown is overbooked for weeks. Is there a rental car shortage? Also had anyone else in this situation had success looking elsewhere for a car last minute?
