How many kids did you want initially vs how many did you end up having?

My husband & I have been so back and forth on how many kids we may think we want/will have. All my life I imagined having two, until I got older and realized how much goes into raising a child — emotionally, financially, physically, etc. That’s when I started to think maybe we’ll only have one. And we thought that way for years, we leaned more towards only having one kid. Fast forward 4 years and now we are on the cusp of TTC again for our first (we had a loss this summer), and we are back to imagining having two kiddos. Of course we still have it in mind that our feelings may change on how many we have after we hopefully have our first. Might have our first baby and feel our family is complete, one and done, or we may have our first and be so sure we want to have another. And another? Lol though right now we are pretty set that 3 would be too much, but sometimes you just have no control over those things.

So I’m curious. How many kids did you always imagine having versus how many kids did you end up having? Did your first leave you wanting more? If your number of how many you wanted changed, Why or how did it change?
