Honest thoughts on Cystic Fibrosis (CF) and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) testing?

Hi all - my insurance will not cover the CF and SMA texting. I got quoted $750 for the CF test and $180 for the SMA test.

No judgement zone please as I’m learning - but should I still proceed with these tests?

We do have a deductible of about $7500 so I am thinking we will owe that money from the cost of birth anyhow so we may as well pay towards our deductible.

Please make no mistake that this isn’t about money, I am just trying to weigh out if this is a NECESSARY test.
