Due 11/20 Gave birth 11/9 TW: Traumatic Birth

I went to the Dr on Wednesday 11/7 at 38w exactly. When I had my 20 week scan they found I had a Single umbilical artery. Which basically means that normal umbilical cord's have two arteries and mine only had one. They said that sometimes this causes IUGR. On my Wednesday ultrasound baby was only 5lbs 4oz so they wanted me to deliver by Saturday.

Saturday comes and I go to the hospital around noon. I get set up and they started my pitocin drip to start contractions. I had a couple contractions and baby's heart rate dropped everytime. They Drs came in about 830pm and said I needed a C-section because baby is too small to handle labor. I was so scared And bummed because I've had 3 vaginal births and was hoping I didn't need a C-section.

So I'm in the operating room, numb from the waist down and everything is going so smooth. My husband is walking me through everything they're doing and Im amazed I couldn't feel anything! They take the baby out and are now trying to do a tubal ligation. All of a sudden I start to feel everything! I could literally feel them moving my organs around and it was the most excruciating pain I've ever felt. I'm like screaming and crying, my husband is yelling to help me and they took him out of the room. Whatever they gave me next caused me to have hallucinations and I thought I was dead. It seemed like I was like this for hours but it was really like 35 mins.

I regain consciousness and am in so much pain. They had to give me oxycodone, fentanyl and morphine for me to have my pain level to where I could stop crying and moaning. It was traumatic to say the least.

My lil guy was born on November 9th at 10:23pm. He weighed 5lbs 4oz and was 19inch long. He doing amazing and didn't have to go to the NICU. I'm doing really great. I was up walking around the next day like nothing, and today also. It hurts like hell , don't get me wrong , but compared to the vaginal births I'd say it's about the same pain just not in my vagina. Good luck to all the ladies out there that haven't given birth and just know that my situation is rare.
