Looking for some guidance with training.

We have a 12 week old GSD/mal cross. I've had high energy breeds my whole life (catahoula/husky and a cattle dog and an aussie) and so I'm comfortable with the amount of exercise she'll need.

She has been excellent at housebreaking, she does wonderful on a leash, is good with commands when her puppy brain isn't distracted. She's chilling on the nipping (seems ignoring this type of rough play is helpful) and she's gentle and not overly destructive.

I was hesitant to get a winter pup but sometimes they find you. A positive is that a lot of the really bad puppy illnesses don't live in the extreme cold and I was worried about house breaking but she's doing well.

I am struggling with crate training. She is never crated long during the day, and isn't crated every day. She needs to learn to be crate trained at night. I made a mistake and didn't start right off the bat. Almost immediately after adopting her, our entire house got sick with the stomach flu. I loved her sleeping on me on the couch. I talked myself out of my better judgment of starting the crate immediately. Now it's been three weeks and she hates being crated at night. She cries and it sounds like hyenas fighting. I took for granted how my last boy just immediately loved his crate.

I try to ignore her but I worry and its waking the kids up. I'm not sleeping well at all. It's so cold outside and I'm up early running her around. Since she's young, I'm trying to do several 15- 20 min walks a day which will morph into two 1.5 hour walks with intermittent hiking and running throughout the week. I'm doing my best (more than I've ever done with previous dogs) to tire her out and I expected that she'd be work but everything comes so easy to her except for this. I feel like I'm failing her because this is clearly insecurity. I'm looking for any help or guidance. I think I'll put on white noise tonight and maybe get some high reward treats (frozen pieces of chicken maybe) because she's praise motivated, not really food motivated at all.

I am so excited to do right by her. I've had wonderful dogs my whole life, each with their quirks, but I want her to be well adjusted and happy.

Any tips you have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Adding a picture of her smiling (for her bully stick) for tax.
