Looking for help on a casual ruleset

Hi everyone, I’m a fighting game Tournament Organizer and I’m planning to start running Beyblade x as a side event at our locals. Because it’s a side tournament though, there are some constraints that wouldn’t exist for a normal tournament, so I want to use a different ruleset. Here’s the constraints:

Bracket will be double elimination and not Swiss. Because it’ll be running concurrently with other events, I can’t be taking up a ton of time from our players, so I thought FT7 points double elimination might be good.

Most players will be borrowing beyblades to play. I’m planning to put together 3 rental decks from my collection, but I have a limited number of really good meta blades, so each deck will likely have one blade that’s much better than the others.

I want to show people the counter picking aspect of the game, and since they won’t be building their own decks, I’m not keen on blind pick deck format.

The side event needs to run quick so the rules need to be relatively simple to understand. Bonus points if they resemble the typical rules of fighting game tournaments.

So given those constraints, here’s what I came up with.

  • FT7 points double elimination
  • First round, beys are picked double blind
  • Each round the winning player must switch to a new bey. The losing player may choose to switch
  • You cannot switch to a bey you’ve already used until you use both your other beys

I was hoping to get some feedback from more experienced bladers on this ruleset though.
