How to prepare for flying and being in the mountains

In a few weeks, I'm flying from Florida to Virginia, then will be driving with family 5 hours from Virginia to a mountain town in West Virginia, which is at an altitude of 4,800 feet.

Honestly, I don't fly a ton (maybe twice a year), and it often makes me nauseous and I usually get a cold afterwards. I've made this particular trip twice before, and get a lot of nausea from the flight and then from driving on twisting roads through the mountains. Then when I get there, being at a higher altitude for several days means I don't sleep well, have headaches, and just generally don't feel my best for the duration of the trip.

Is there any way to avoid this for this trip? I'm already planning on hydrating much better than I usually do and drinking lots of electrolytes. This is definitely something I haven't done well in the past. Should I wean off my one cup of coffee per day - will not having caffeine help? Are there supplements I should take? I have some IV vitamin places in my city in Florida...should I go get an IV of something?
