moist soft footbed birkenstocks solutions

My pair of birkenstocks with a soft footbed had a cup of hot chocolate spilt on them back in December. I remember wiping off the hot chocolate with a damp cloth and leaving them to dry in the aussie heat but out of the sun. I haven't gotten the birkenstocks wet since and its been over 7 months since they were last wet. The leather dried out fine.

I think some of the water penetrated in the soft footbed because everytime I've worn them since, my feet feel moist like I've been sweating in the shoes or the footbed isn't fully dry. The closest thing I can describe it to is the feeling I get when wearing my rock climbing shoes for long periods of time and my feet are sweaty with not much room to breathe.

Does anyone have any solutions to drying out the footbed? my current solution is wearing socks with the birkenstocks or just dealing with it but I would like to just dry out the footbed so I'm more inclined to wear them more
