Rin as stepping stone?
People do be talking that of course ultimately Isagi is the main character and even if currently impressive, Rin will be stepping stone just like all the others.
But I do not agree with that, a very important side characters can be still relevant until the very end, not every story has a main character being 10 times better than everyone else, sometimes the other stay relevant, sometimes the main character journey is about becoming great but not becoming the best, only one of the best.
Like is Noa better than Snuffy? He kinda is as a striker but Snuffy is still very relevant and powerful opponent and even can look better than Noa in some situations and similarly even if Isagi would to become the best I do not think Isagi will ever truly outclass Rin.
Rin is just too broken, he outcompeted literally everyone constantly improving in blue lock with the wrong approch because he acted like talented learner instead of working with his genius.
At this point Rin will be a life long rival to Isagi, whether Isagi will surpass him or not, I am 99% sure there will be no "step stoning" between them, Rin tried to use Isagi as stepping stone many times and he failed, and even if Isagi achieves great results over him, he still won't just stay there.
At some point there are limits of how strong you can grow and it's visible Rin is somewhere close to the top, Rin is like a solid NG 11 level now and no, Isagi won't be easily defeating NG 11 players and have a tier of his own.
I think it was visible already at U20, Rin was amazing, but he was more of a normal player, normal archetype, but after reaching his ego it was visible that he was a complete monster, something impossible to truly scale, you can compete with him with different skills but the true genius he has is impossible to neutralize.
And I think that's the kind of point of the story? Talented learners are competing alongside geniuses, you cannot just, you know, outclass geniuses, because they are kind of the thing that shines through no matter how hard it is, and Rin seems like the strongest genius in the story right now and it seems it will remain so.
