325i 2004 wagon transmission advice

So I was told that my transmission has reached its end. Is it worth it to get it replaced? I bought it for about 2700 , I really like my car and find the whole ordeal of buying a new car anxiety inducing. Would it be worth it to get a more extensive inspection of the transmission done to see if it’s just a part and not the whole transmission?
