Is this a new norm for couples?

Whenever I eat out, couples don't really talk to each other. Some couples I saw they don't talk to each other the moment they sat down and they got up, they just play with their phones. Some couples even watch TV shows separately on the same table . Both of them wearing their own earphones and watching different things on their phones.

Has this become the new norma for couples?
