Grant Stone Diesel - really disappointed
Took a chance and ordered a pair of GS Diesels with micro stud soles based on the buzz here on r/boots. I’m so disappointed.
It took me a couple tries to get a boot that fit right, and Kim in customer service was very responsive and helpful. Unfortunately, that’s where the positive experience ended.
They’re a great looking boot and the price seemed to be a value. The stitching is beautiful. After a month of daily wear the CXL leather is buttery soft. The soles, however, are still hard as wood. My feet hurt so badly that I went to the doctor to confirm that I wasn’t having a gout flare-up. I wasn’t. It’s just bad boots.
If it wasn’t for their crappy return policy that doesn’t allow you to walk in the boots for a few minutes to see how they feel (FFS, they make you send them pics before returning!), I definitely would have returned them. They were uncomfortable out of the box and the soles show no signs that they will ever improve. They haven’t molded to my foot at all as many claim they do. Some further research tells me I’m not alone here.
Buyer beware, just because some people love them, doesn’t mean they are comfortable for everyone. I would not recommend these boots and I’m pissed at myself for spending $400 on a product with such a crappy return policy. Considering a resole to see if that helps at all. Otherwise I’ll chalk it up to an expensive lesson learned and just pitch them.
It’s Zappos for me from now on
