If Swept Away Transfers, the Trio Must Transfer with It
Look, Swept Away needs work, but I loved it.
Why did I love it? Because the trio sold me on it. The cast and the music carries Swept Away. (And some of the choreography). The strongest part of the show, besides the music (and arguably the insane and cool set design), is the relationship between the brothers, and it only works as well as it does because of Stark Sands and Adrian Blake Enscoe.
The book is definitely the weakest part of the show, glaringly so. (I'm sorry to John Logan, but it's true.) The actors are the reason this show is connecting with anyone at all. (And probably the music, but without good performers, that wouldn't matter as much, either.)
This show has so much potential. Even if they didn't change anything at all, if they put this cast on Broadway, I'd see it again -- even with my current issues with the show (which there are several, but I will spare you). I really want to see this make it to Broadway. I probably wouldn't bother with a transfer if they changed the cast, though, except under very specific circumstances.
