Theater etiquette is so far gone

I saw The Great Gatsby last month and there were two couples in the row in front of me that were driving me nuts.

Couple 1: Young, mid 40s MAX. female counterpart for sure wanted to be there. Dude counterpart (and he was definitely the epitome of a "dude") not so much.

I was fortunate enough to only be about 6 rows back from the stage, so they were even closer. This guy, every 15 minutes during Act 1, would go through his Outlook, Texts, WhatsApp and Facebook messages. if by chance he'd have a message waiting, he'd send a few back. His counterpart nudged him a few times and they ended up leaving at intermission.

Couple 2: mid to upper 70s. i had a little bit more leniency with because of their age & the fact that they were fully engaged in the show, until they weren't.

Toward the end of the show, the woman took out her phone, TURNED HER FLASHLIGHT ON, and shone it on their Playbill (my assumption was to look up the show run time). They, in turn, were lighting up their entire row- to the point where the gentleman two seats down was shielding his eyes. My friend I was at the show ended up leaning forward and asking them to turn their flashlight off (kudos to him) and they politely obliged. HOWEVER..... then the man pulled HIS phone out and proceeded to attempt to order an uber.

I go to shows (mostly touring BWY) regularly, so i was absolutely shocked by seeing this ON Broadway!!!

And don't even get me started about people leaving during curtain calls....
