DA/SA Options 2025
Beating the DA/SA dead horse here. I’ve been struggling with making a new carry decision. I’ve carried striker-fired in the past but have since made the choice to go with DA/SA or a similar option (DAO, manual safety) now that I have two boys under 3 years old. This is a very personal/subjective decision and it’s the most comfortable I’ll feel carrying until I can teach firearm safety to my boys.
This is less about access to the gun and more about ND while playing with my kids or them jumping on me, etc. Under normal circumstances, I’m comfortable with carrying striker-fired handguns but can’t stop thinking about the “1 in a million chance” of something failing. Not looking to debate the principals of firearms safety but looking to see what people actually carry everyday regarding the options above.
I’ve reviewed a lot of Reddit posts and YouTube videos on the subject. I feel like I’ve narrowed it down to the CZ P01 or HK P30sks. Open to other suggestions and hearing other experiences.
2/11/2025 Update
Ordered the H&K P30sks. After getting both the H&K and CZ in hand, I decided to go with the H&K. I really liked both the P30SK and P-01. They both have really great ergos and felt better in hand than I was expecting. Once I get a solid holster system and start carrying the H&K, I still plan to purchase the P-01 when I can find a good deal. It was a difficult decision to make but ultimately the P30sks fits my needs perfectly and I think I’m really going to enjoy the DA/SA system. I appreciate all of the responses I got in such a short period of time, really helped me make my decision.
I’d also like to hear any suggestions for holsters for the H&K. I carry AIWB.
