Christian concerned about the ethical future of the tech industry.
Hello, I'm applying to school for Computer Science, but I had to stop and see jobs available in the tech industry. My outlook on the future of tech is kind of pessimistic, a result of being generally uninformed, having felt the negative blows of addictive online content algorithms, the prospect of AI replacing jobs, AI & Tech innovations being used for sinful malicious purposes, power imbalance, the greed of powerful tech companies and the downward trend of secular society foretold throughout the Bible.
I asked ChatGPT of some ethical applications of CS and specifically AI in the future and it responded with:
- bringing learning to all people with free or low cost educational materials, through secure and accesible software and hardware.
- Personalizing learning with AI adaptive learning systems
- Healthcare and Early Disease detection with AI
- AI-driven disaster response systems
- AI Environmental monitoring
- Energy efficient software and hardware
With all this good I still feel pessimistic. Does anyone else feel this way? Any insight for optimism of the tech world? Any insightful comments appreciated, thank you and God bless.
