Penguinz0’s Video
penguinz0/cr1tikal/charlie’s video is only going to lead to a horrible public opinion on CAI and general ai as entertainment, in my opinion. About half the comments or more are disagreeing with his take, but what do yall think? Does CAI need MORE disclosure that bots “aren’t real”? He seemed confused by the bot claiming to be a person and says he even considered(i don’t think seriously) that it may not be a bot. Is this a fault of the website or just user error, and how do you think his video will impact public perception?
edit to add more context: He spends the first part of the video talking specifically about the tragedy, and then goes on to show his(charlie’s) own chats with the “Therapist” character, saying that the character claimed to be a real therapist named Jason convincingly. He goes on to argue that the site should send you to or direct you to real help if you say anything about wanting to kill yourself. Comments on the video are a mixture of people saying that it is the parent’s fault the child died and CAI is not to blame, and others saying that the parents should sue and win against CAI, with some saying that CAI should be adult only.
Personally, I think there’s a third option where we recognize that CAI may not be to blame while also not blaming the parents of the child in a situation we know barely anything about. They can and should be criticized as they’ve put themselves in the public eye, but we can argue this without resorting to comments of “it’s the mom’s fault her son killed himself” etc. That’s just my opinion, what do y’all think?
