Why is charlotte airport baggage claim so bad?

I live here and I fly a pretty good amount. Charlotte has without question in my mind the worst baggage claim in the US. PHL, SLC and maybe DFW are probably my runners up but CLT holds the number one spot by a huge margin.

Not nearly enough carousels. Not nearly enough space for the hordes of people. Takes *forever* for the bags to show up. I feel like 30 minutes is a long time most other airports and it's typically 15-20 most of the time. In charlotte it's more like 40 minutes if you're lucky and over an hour if you're not. Last time took nearly 2 hours for our bags to come out the chute.

The monitors are a joke. I counted *20* different flights listed on the screen at the baggage claim I was sent to initially last time. TWENTY. There is no indication of which ones have started to come out or are done coming out like at most airports, it's just an unhelpful list. Bags also don't always come out at the claim the monitor says (3 of last 4 times actually this was true). So you gotta randomly check the other carousels just to make sure.

Also... happen to have an orange priority sticker? Doesn't mean anything here.

Just...why? Is there any hope?
