Swiss makers have accomplished greatest marketing in history of earth

Received my first $100 chinese quartz watch yesterday. Incredible value. Nothing at all cheesy looking. This one was a diver. Have a $40 quartz dress watch coming in two days, and that will be a much harder test, but I'm optimistic as it's not a flashy design.

If the dress watch is nice, then (1) I see very reduced need for the Seikos of the world, at least for people who just want a nice looking piece that tells time in a troublefree manner, and (2) imho, it looks like the Swiss feat of whipping up a frenzy for their high-end marvels of workmanship is the most astounding marketing achievement ever.

From what I see on the internet, much of the interest in Swiss pieces is from complete douchebags, to the point that I would be embarrassed to wear a high end piece, even if I were stupid enough to buy one. (Hats off to folks that can sell them at a high profit, but the proof will be in the pudding. Let's see what they actually make when the bubble fully deflates.)
