Book loving coconuts, how's your 2024 so far?
Between work, gym, and necessary family matters, I had been slacking off rather heavily in the past few years. Decided to drop that and pick up books once again.
I had promised to myself that I'd complete 24 books in 2024. Good going, thus far.
My favourite of the lot is ചെമ്മീൻ (Thakazhi). Never expected a book that is half a century old and already had a movie adaptation to surprise me so much! The language, narration, plot development, and philosophy hits the mark so perfectly. The movie had barely half the quality of what the book has, and yet it won the award for the best movie on a national level. This itself screams how brilliant the original novel is.
Special mention to പൊനം (KN Prasanth) (not included in the picture), which turned out to be the dark horse from the list. The narration is crisp, emotions run high, story is intense, revenge is burning. I have absolutely no clue why this wasn't picked up and talked about by the people.
Anyway, how's your year been? 😊
