Weak coffee using french press

I recently bought a chambord french press to provide some variety from my aeropress. I, however, cannot seem to make a strong flavorful cup of coffee with it. Every cup I've made so far tastes watered down. My brew method is as follows: 1. 18g of coffee medium coarse grind(tried a grind a tad above a drip grind with little improvement) 2. 290g of water(decreased this in increments all the way down to 220g with little improvement) 3. Stir 5 times once all the water is poured in 4. Total brew time is 4 minutes Any one have any suggestions?
