Income restricted housing is kinda unfair
I'm looking at price listings things for apartments that are considered income restricted housing, And most of them are really nice apartments, especially for the fact that some go for $1,100 a month.
But what I don't like though is how it's income restricted at some place is not allowing you to make more than 45k a year as a single person which I just think is kind of lame, because that's in the 20 an hour range.. which is still low pay and entry level for undergrads.
I also don't think making a little over 45k doesn't necessarily make you well off because because the price is for decent places to rent jumps way up and the median entry level price, one person is around $1,600 a month, And then you're sacrificing 3/4 of your paycheck.
Like I feel like if they really wanted to help people with affordable housing then they would raise that income limit to like 60k a year, because otherwise it just kind screws people in between that salary range, instead of providing a place where those people might be able to save more money and contribute to the economy more.
And at this time the state seems to have no interest in changing policy or even increasing the income limit, even though they do seem like they want to spend more money on affordable housing.
