Which Edition of Joy of Cooking is the best?
There was a different post recently asking what the best cookbook was and Joy of Cooking naturally came up a lot. I’ve always wanted a copy but doing a deep dive on Wikipedia (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joy_of_Cooking) there’s lots of changes between various editions.
Reading through, the 8th edition which is the 75th anniversary edition looks like a good update and adds a lot of info that was taken out of previous editions.
But the 6th edition remains the most popular.
The most recent edition (9th) while keeping it in the original Author’s (Irma Romabauer) family, has added 600 new recipes I’m not super interested the recipes of her great grandson.
I actively want to use this cookbook, but I also want to read the true voice of the Author and original recipes, which edition should I get?
