I made the app CardPointers to help you maximize your points, cash back, and offers, and just launched an Android version in Google Play with all of the essential features from the iOS version

Hi all, this one's been a long time coming, but I'm so excited to share the first Android release of CardPointers, which you can download here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cardpointers.app

For those who don't yet use the app, I first launched a web version right here in r/CreditCards 3 years ago, with the sole purpose of helping everyone always use the right credit card for every purchase to maximize your points or cash back.

Thanks to the amazing feedback from other Redditors, the app has grown a ton since then, including a ton of new features, native versions for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Mac, and some great App Store highlights along the way. I also launched a Chrome Extension to help you activate every Amex Offer in bulk and sync them to your account, while preserving your privacy (I don't ever want your bank credentials, unlike most of the other apps in this space). And now, the most-requested feature of all, a fully native Android version!

If you've been using the PWA, all of your cards and pointers will load right in (just be sure to log in with the same credentials), and the 1.0 launch version will give you access to the essential features that I've been developing on the Apple side over the last 3 years:

  • View and track all of your cards' credits, offers, and sign up bonuses.
  • Subcategories in each Pointers based on your cards' rewards structure, so you can find the best card to use at any grocery store, or the one that has a specific 5x bonus at just Whole Foods.
  • Credits and offers are integrated directly into the pointers section to help make sure you use them.
  • New, super fast onboarding system to add cards from different banks in just a few taps, with a focus on user privacy.
  • Select from different bonus plans based on the offer you received for the card.
  • Configurable welcome offers, and the ability to track all of your past cards and offers, too.
  • Get automatic reminders before your credits and offers expire.
  • Add your Amex offers using the CardPointers X Chrome extension, and they'll appear right in the Android app, too.

There are a few more features that are still in the works which will be added to the Android version in the coming weeks:

  • Re-ordering cards and pointers; for now you can do that through the web or Apple apps.
  • Customizing bonus plans.
  • Selecting categories for selectable cards.
  • Location Reminders and Offer Alerts which were added recently to iOS.

The core functionality of the app remains 100% free, and there's a Pro tier just like on iOS to unlock some of the above features, and even more, coming in future versions. I've discounted the Pro tier 40% for the Android launch this week, and a purchase made on any device will work across all of your devices, even cross-platform.

For those who are curious, the Android version is 100% native, built in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose, Room, Dagger Hilt, and RevenueCat, and I couldn't be happier with the tech stack and diving in head first to Android development for the first time. You guys have it good here and it's been a blast developing the app.

Thank you so much for your support over the years, and I'd love to hear how you like the new Android version (and if you run into any bugs, definitely let me know about those too, please, the Android world is totally new to me so I'm sure there are a few I missed).

And finally, I hope you have a very happy new year and 2022 is your best year yet!
