Thoughts/questions after the 4th test.

Picking an opening batsman who is a genuine opening batsman is important. Hope McSweeney can come back in and bat at a position that suits him better, but Konstas looked comfortable opening, wanted to face the best bowler in the world and his mindset was the best part.

We desperately need an all rounder who can bowl 15-20 overs if needed. Starc and Cummins will tire out in tests where they’re needed to bowl heaps of overs especially in 5 test series.

Smith is one of the best. Cummins is one of the best.

A question I have is with our fast bowling depth, why can’t we give our ageing fast bowlers a 1 game rest throughout a 5 test series? It could give a limited exposure to a young quick and a much needed rest to our stars. I love what boland and hazlewood have done but why not give Starc a spell in the 3rd test for example and bring someone else in?
