Help reading pattern and figuring out the edges please
Hello! I'm a relative beginner and working on this scarf pattern made up of small rectangles of different stitches sewn together, and this one is giving me trouble. The right edge in particular looks odd, especially towards the top.
I tried counting stitches and (except one row towards the bottom that i forgot to frog) i count the same number of stitches in each row (am I even counting right though? ). I was definitely struggling to figure out where to put my first and last stitch
I realize now that i took the instruction that the turning chain on row 2 counts as a stitch as true for the rest of the pattern but maybe that's not the case? When working the next row do I put my last stitch in the turning chain or in the last real stitch? Is it correct that I should count 27 stitches in each row?
As a subsidiary question, I thought i had done the correct number of rows but the section is much shorter than it needs to be ; other sections of the same pattern have been true to size. I don't mind adding rows, just making sure I haven't missed something obvious.
