for all my guys that are underwhelmed
I'm not here to suggest that you don’t know how to interpret a passive like some people do. Your disappointment in these EZAs is completely justified, especially considering how overpowered the 6th-anniversary units were last year. On paper, these EZAs might seem underwhelming, but in practice, they perform quite well given how the new fights are structured.
If you get them on Turn 2, you're in an excellent position they can stay in rotation and dominate right away. If they appear **on Turn 1, you can simply rotate them out to reach their transformation faster. Based on my calculations and the current Red Zone meta, the first two phases of most fights won’t even be able to damage them, even if they take a slot 1 super attack. This allows for extra stacking, and they can comfortably hold down slot 1 before transforming.
Once transformed, Gogeta excels in slot 1, especially with AGL SS4 Goku providing him 10% damage reduction. On average, he reaches 30% damage reduction** from rainbow ki spheres, alongside unconditional guard and a 70% chance to counter, making him extremely solid. The Blues, on the other hand, are more reliant on stacking and suffer from dodge canceling (RIP UI Goku stocks).
That said, the disappointment is understandable. Last year’s EZAs were ranked #2 and #3, while now Gogeta is more like #3 or #4 (though I haven't decided if he's better than Beast Gohan, probably not). The Gods, meanwhile, likely don’t crack the top 5, but they’re still 100% dependable and serve as an amazing refresh for some of the most beloved units in the game.
At the end of the day, have fun using them, y'all!
