Had an argument in Discord where a guy said he "Didn't care about them cause they were no different from nameless fodder that were meant to die, so they were unnecessary."

What are you people's opinion on this group of Hermes Familia's folk sent to the 24th Floor's pantry alongside Ais?

Were they really useless and a waste of panels? Or a nice touch that humanized the background characters and showed they were regular people with feelings and aspirations, which made the demise of some that much more meaningful?
