I don't remeber who said it but they 100% called it. I just saw someone a few days ago basically this(paraphrasing):

Elon knew exactly what he was doing with the salute. He was signaling to trump's neo-nazi base and soon all of his followers will be doing nazi salute in solidarity.

They have now normalized this shit to be out in the open. And anyone doing this knows exactly what they are doing and what it means.
