Best First Steps

Hi all,

I just got the final word that the marriage is over. Is there anything you wished you would have done in the few days following your decision? I’m doing all the asset splitting, packing, etc. and wondering if there is something I’m overlooking.

I.e. what do you wish you knew going into it? Anything I should be sure to remember, prep for, do to protect myself, etc.?

Edit: no kids, but we have a dog. Based in NY.

P.S. I looked through a few hundred of the most recent and pinned posts, but didn’t see one covering this. Sorry if there is already a post out there, but I couldn’t find it!
