Seeking advice for potential trap mechanics!
Hi all!
Brand new DM here (5e), and I'm currently prepping a "trap" or environment but have no clue how to actually implement it, and would love some suggestions!
There is basically a situation where the characters are trapped on a tower fighting a baddie, with a cyclone of wind spinning around them. I want to have a mechanic where, if they fall off the tower, there's a chance that rather than just falling straight down to their death, they can get caught in the wind storm like a leaf and basically get flown around above the tower against their will, trapped in the wind storm. That way, there's a more interesting way to make sure that the players stay in combat and don't just die from rolling poorly on ONE saving throw, but are also still presented with a challenge/handicap.
I like this idea a lot, but have NO idea how to actually implement it in gameplay. Any suggestions at all would be much appreciated :)
