What's the point of daggers if rogue can duel wield short swords?

I may be missing something in the rules but is the only advantage to using daggers over short swords the fact that you can throw them?

The duel dagger rogue is such a cool archetype I'm trying to think of ways to encourage players to use it over short swords. These are my ideas:
-Automatically have duel wielding feat as a rogue when using two daggers.
-If both dagger attacks hit you get a combo strike and get to roll a third attack
-Sneak attack dice with daggers is doubled (throat slash)
