Is it ethical to buy DOOM Dark Ages considering how Mick Gordon was treated?
This is something that I keep coming back to any time I get a little excited about Dark Ages - Mick's soundtrack was a masterwork, integral to the game experience, and he was treated like dogshit.
Wouldn't purchasing the new game signal tacit acceptance of this kind of behavior?
It would be one thing if the company were to acknowledge what happened, apologize, fire Marty, address the issues that lead to such a nightmare even being possible in the first place, and make things right for Mick - but I don't feel like I've seen anything even approaching that, from any of the involved parties.
And that's another thing - how far up the chain does responsibility transfer? Do I just boycott anything Marty is involved with? Or id? Or Bethesda? Or Microsoft??
It fucking sucks. I want guilt-free hype for Dark Ages, but I can't unknow what I know.
